Each behavior we choose represents a small step either away from or toward our ideal selves. Therefore, it's critical to our success that we learn to form great habits that automate great behaviors while avoiding or rewiring our harmful habits.
Unfortunately due to the [[Information-action fallacy]], facts alone don't change our behaviors. We need solid skills that enable us to build intentional habits even when we know what we need to do.
There are three things that can bring out changes to our habits:
- **Epiphanies**: These are hard to consciously bring about
- **Environmental changes**: These can also be difficult to orchestrate in our lives
- **Tiny habits**: These are small actions that take less than a minute to complete, and the area we have the most control over in our lives.
- See: [[Tiny Habits]]
When we are [[Making decisions]] about our habits, it's better to think of making an [[Identity pact]] or a rule about what we do rather than stating a preference to be better.
